Catalyst only uses organic plant dyes that have been sustainably harvested or grown ourselves from seed. Below are a few of the plant dyes we currently use.
Japanese Indigo

Origin - Native to Eastern Europe and Asia.
Color - Legendary Blue

Origin - Indigenous to Mexico and Central America
Color - Bright Orange
Dyestuff - Flowers
Pomegranate
(Punica granatum)
Origin - India, Italy, North Africa and China
Color - Dark Yellow
Dyestuff - Outer Skin
Osage
(Maclura pomifora)
Origin - Native to Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas but has naturalized throughout many other states. Our osage orange sawdust is sourced from milled downed trees.
Color - Bright Yellow

Avocado
(Persea americana)
Origin - Native to Southern California
Color - Pink
Dyestuff - Skins and Seeds
Madder Root
(Rubia tinctorum)
Origin - Central and Southern Europe, Northern Africa, and Central Asia.
Color - Red, Orange & Pink Shades
Dyestuff - Mature Roots
Kamala (Extract)
(Mallotus philippensis)
Origin - Tree found throughout tropical India
Color - Deep Orange
Dyestuff - Seeds of the Tree
Logwood
(Haematoxylum campechianum)
Origin - Native to southern Mexico, and introduced to the Caribbean, northern Central America, and other localities around the world.
Color - Deep Rich Purples & Greys
Dyestuff - Heartwood
Logwood is PH sensistive. Acids will alter the color.
(lemons, oranges, vinegar, etc.)
